Since January 2024, the National Wine School (NWS) has managed all academic credentials from the Wine School of Philadelphia through its secure servers. This transition allows certifications to be authenticated digitally and securely via blockchain technology.
Between December 2023 and December 2024, we provided opportunities for current and former students to transfer their certifications from the Wine School of Philadelphia to NWS. As of January 2025, over 6,000 student credentials—some dating back more than two decades—have been successfully transferred from our records to the NWS database.
Having your credentials stored with the National Wine School is essential, as it enables you to earn sommelier certifications up to the Master level. While we no longer facilitate digital transfers, you can still transfer pre-2024 certifications by submitting a request through the following form:
Important: To qualify for any sommelier certification in the United States, your credentials must be stored with the National Wine School.
