Last night was homemade chicken pot pie, Kenziger beer, and the Phils! The crisp, refreshing, and never fussy Kenziger (Philadelphia Brewing Company) was perfect with the buttery deliciousness of the pastry crust and the earthy rich flavors of chicken, peas, carrots, and potatoes up the pie’s innards.
Better still was that crazy-good ending the Phillies served up last night. Down two in the top of the ninth (and my husband and friends down as well), the Fightin’ Phils turned it around like only they know-how. In short order: Jimmy Rollins, Chase Utley, Ryan Howard, and Jayson Werth.
Now the Phils were up one going into the bottom of the ninth. Not out of the woods, but folks at my house were certainly anticipating an upcoming win. And the Phillies did not disappoint.
