Olivares Altos De La Hoya 2005 Monastrell

Posted by Keith Wallace

For the past three vintages, The Altos has been a unique & consistent great value. I am glad to see the trend continues. On the nose, a distinct minerality is coupled with dark fruit notes. This is an exceptionally structured and tannic wine for its price point (under $10) on the palate. Flavors explode with cassis and butter but veer toward the floral on the finish. A very aggressive wine, which is a style that often costs much more. From Jumilla, Spain.
