Wineries are the heartbeat of this entire sector. They do the conversions of grapes to wine which is the primary expression of each area. They have a stronghold on the agricultural sector existing as well as creating jobs in the economy, in addition, to promoting tourism. Although the major share of the U.S. wine production is in California, East Coast wineries, such as Virginia and New York’s Finger Lakes, have been making a name for themselves. These areas feature cooler-climate styles of wine, like the fresh and crispy Rieslings or the exclusive Cabernet Francs, thus revealing their unique terroirs. The East Coast wineries are not only producing but also innovating; they play with hybrid grapes and adopt sustainable viticulture practices. Besides, they are more than winemakers; they are cultural centers; they teach, organize events, and offer community services. They are the ones to take care of the region history and the American wine future, and not only with the bottled wine.
