Miraval 2012 Rose de Provence

Posted by Keith Wallace

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt… yes, we’ve all heard that hype. The real story here is that both AC/DC and Shirley Bassey recorded at the nearby Miraval Studios. In fact, the wine was locally known by the moniker Pink Floyd, being that much of their seminal album “The Wall” was recorded there.

With all the fuss over the wine, the question remains: is it any good? With the winemaking team of Château de Beaucastel at the helm of this project, it will be good (and it is). In fact, it’s been good for many years now. It’s just sexier, thanks to the new bottling and owners.

Lobster-hued and strawberry scented, this is a fine rose. Bone dry with distinct anise and cinnamon notes is embedded into the zesty red fruit flavors. Tannins are a bit higher than expected, so this will work best with light summer fare.
