This bottling hails from a tiny cooperative winery located in the just-as-tiny town of Poboleda in Catalonia. Vineyards around the town are planted with Grenache and Cariñena that date back to the early part of the 20th century. Fermented in large casks, the wines are then aged in older oak for about a year before bottling.
Reductive in some elements, this is a wild wine. Smoky and beefy on the nose, it offers up dried roses, mulberry, and blackberry flavors. The wine finishes with a zot (yes, a zot) of spice intensely structured and full-bodied.
