Time Out Recommends the Wine School of Philadelphia

Time Out Philadelphia gave the Wine School of Philadelphia four out of five stars and designated it a recommended destination for classes and workshops in Center City.

Writer Josh Middleton described the school, founded in 2001, as a place offering an unusually broad range of classes covering wine, beer, cocktails, cooking and food pairing.

The appeal, he noted, was not limited to people pursuing professional wine credentials. The Wine School was equally open to anyone who simply wanted to understand more about what they were drinking.

Classes ranged from explorations of particular wine regions to cocktail instruction and sessions devoted to pairing food and drink. That breadth made the school less a traditional professional academy than a place where serious education and an enjoyable night out could coexist.

Middleton summed up the experience succinctly: the classes were “fun, informative” and, thanks to the tastings, generally left students a little happier than when they arrived.

For Time Out, that combination of expertise and accessibility was the point. The Wine School offered genuine instruction without requiring students to approach wine as professionals — a place where curiosity was enough reason to walk through the door.
