For a decade, the Wine School has been a hub for oenophiles in Rittenhouse. In that time, we’ve seen our fair share of restaurants come and go, but the current crop of dining establishments is the best we’ve seen in years. It’s the perfect time to indulge in a wine class and dinner pairing, but be sure to make a reservation – these restaurants are as popular as we are!
First up is Rione, the go-to spot for our sommelier program students. This Roman-style pizzeria is BYO and a great spot to unwind between classes. You’ll find yourself rubbing elbows with wine enthusiasts who can’t get enough of Rione’s authentic pies.
For a more refined dining experience, check out My Loup. This exciting new project from Amanda Shulman (of Her Place Supper Club) and Alex Kemp is helmed by Wine School alumnus Neil Ross, who serves as both GM and sommelier. Although it won’t be open to the public until early May, it’s already generating buzz among foodies in the know.
Bolo is a recent addition to the fine dining scene, but it’s already making waves with its Caribbean-inspired menu. Chef Yun Fuentes (formerly of Tinto and Alma De Cuba) has crafted a compelling selection of dishes that pairs beautifully with their rum-heavy cocktail list. It’s the perfect spot for a post-class drink and snack.
If you’re looking for a tried-and-true favorite, look no further than Vernick Food and Drink. This Rittenhouse institution is known for its world-class wine list and tightly-run kitchen. It’s the perfect spot for a pre-class glass of wine or a late-night dinner with friends.
For something a little wilder, check out Wilder. This restaurant has a bit of an edge, with an inventive kitchen and a brilliant wine list that’s sure to please adventurous palates. We love hanging out at their bar and exploring the depths of their menu.
Friday Saturday Sunday is another favorite among Wine School students, with their late-night hours and cozy atmosphere. It’s the perfect spot to unwind after a long day of class, and the menu is sure to satisfy.
Finally, we have The Love, a joint project from Aimee Olexy and Stephen Starr. This special restaurant is staffed by some of our favorite students, who have poured their hearts and souls into creating a dining experience that’s both comforting and memorable. Stop by for a taste of what’s possible when you combine great wine with great food.
