Rizzi 2001 Barbaresco Riserva

Posted by Keith Wallace

Way too young, way too good, and way too cheap. The skinny: this wine should retail for about $50.

The recommendation: buy a case. The problem: undrinkable for 3 years. Tone-perfect Barbaresco with rose & tar on the nose, with wild strawberry cloves weaving through the complex finish.

This will prove to be a beautiful bottle of wine if given time. For those who do not have the storage facility, I would say pass on this one. Once this baby is ready to drink, it will be the perfect wine pairing for grilled venison chops or a wild boar ragu.
