Bodega Baigorri 2005 Crianza Rioja

Posted by Keith Wallace

A Spanish Wine Review

A beautiful Rioja with an aroma of cigar box and toasted cinnamon. Flavors of vanilla and espresso dominate the attack. On the mid-palate, mineral and red cherry come forward. The finish is bursting with crushed red fruit. This is a well-tailored and charismatic Rioja without being overblown. Oodles of new oak.

  1. For those visiting the Bodegas of the Rioja region in Spain- Marques de Teran is developing high quality wines under sustainable conditions that conserve energy! They are using superior equipment but interestingly enough, they continue to use the uncompromisable traditions that have made great wines for so long. Combing these perfect conditions has produced delectable wines. The majority of the winery is located underneath the hill it lies on to use natural flow of gravity and temperatures to their advantage with modern equipment to keep the grapes at optimum cold to fermentation levels. Yet they are storing the wine in distinctive oak barrels with much care to the bottling and storage process. A nice tasting at the end pretty much seals the deal in making our opinion that going “green” can also be a tasty thing! Crianza was good as were others.
