From Elite Beginnings to an Inclusive Community

Our original wine club was launched in 2005 as the Cru Club. It was an exclusive gathering open only to Master-level sommeliers and Level 5 wine course graduates. With a remarkable roster of members, the club inspired offshoots, including a California wine club, a natural wine club, and even a non-profit organization.

Over time, we sought to create a more inclusive experience. Gradually, we changed membership requirements to welcome all wine lovers. While we anticipated some resistance, most original members embraced the new ethos and are still active participants today!

During COVID, we transformed the Cru Club into an online wine club for a short time. This shift allowed us to refine our video and audio expertise, paving the way for the development of online wine courses at the National Wine School. Today, we stream live online classes for members in stunning 4K video and professional-grade audio, all from our classroom.

Publications like Philadelphia Magazine have praised our club as one of the city’s best wine events. Our focus is on creating smart, fun wine experiences. With a reputation for attracting brilliant wine minds, there’s always an expectation that members bring extraordinary wines to share. To make it easier for members to explore and learn, we offer a 20% discount on all classes and courses.
