Valentin Bianchi is an old-school Argentinian winery that was founded in the 1920s. It’s one of the brands you see everywhere in Buenos Aires but rarely outside the country.
This is a different style of Argentinian malbec than you may be used to. It’s more muscular, wiry, and tannic; it’s a perfect companion for Argentine steak. The oak is powerful in this one: cinnamon, allspice, clove, nutmeg, toasted cedar rise out of the glass. Dark fruit, licorice, and burnt leather fold into a wildflower and hashish finish.
