Master of French Wine™
France stands as the core of the global wine trade. Its classification systems determine hierarchy. Its appellation laws regulate production. Its pricing strategies affect markets internationally. The Master of French Wine™ Program is a key component of the Advanced Sommelier program.
This semester-long wine course goes beyond a simple overview of the regions and delves deep into the institutions. In each session, you will deep dive into carefully analyzing wines while at the same time examining the region from a trade standpoint with a focus on the regulatory frames, vineyard business, and winemaking styles. You’ll also explore the region’s flavors, with a focus on classic and benchmark wines.
The Master of French Wine Program covers the following regions:
• Loire Valley
• Champagne & The Alps
• Burgundy & Beaujolais
• Rhône Valley
• Provence & Corsica
• Languedoc-Roussillon
• Southwest France
• Bordeaux
Classes are held in person, live-streamed, and recorded for later review. Tasting is rigorous with benchmark wines. Completion of the program earns a Master of French Wine certificate and counts directly toward your NWS Advanced and Master credentials.
