Rosi Schuster Zweigelt 2013

Medium purple in the glass, this wine has aromas of tart fruit including blackberries and black cherries with a note of tobacco. It has an easy drinkability with an invigorating mouthfeel from bright acidity and minerality with a sense of saline. This medium bodied, light tannin wine has an easy finish and would be excellent for a summer barbeque.

The quality level for a $15 Tempranillo from Spain is unmatched in France and Italy; forget about California. Tempranillo is almost always over delivers. The structure of good acid and tannin make it a versatile food pairing. The richness and dark fruit make it appealing for Cabernet drinkers.
This Tempranillo based Cune Rioja is no excetion. Its amazing value punches well above its weight. Aromas of red berries, fresh tobacco, bergamont tea and fresh ground clove give way to a rich palate of boysenberry, fine tannins and a long zesty finish.
Need a wine for pepperoni pizza? this is your bottle, nimble enough for mozzarella and structured enough bring out the richness of spicy pepperoni.

The 2014 Yauquen Bonarda is a deep ruby red wine. On the nose the wine has floral notes of violets along with some licorice in the background. On the palate the wine is medium bodied with medium acidy and shows dark fruit flavors including black cherry and plums. The wine has medium(-) tannins and a medium finish. This is a balanced wine which would pair well with grilled beef or pork.

Amazing alternative for Pinot Noir lovers! Vibrant black cherry, blackberry, and boysenberry aromas. Followed by the scent of, grandma’s favorite things, tobacco and tea. On the palate, you can get more comfortable at granny’s, there is the essence a clove and nutmeg finish!

This Dolcetto has a lovely blend of savory and fruit aromas of fresh leafy tomato, green strawberry, and ripe black cherry. Hints of enticing licorice and a subtle salinity make this an enchanting wine. It is well balanced with medium plus body and medium plus acidity, and high tannins that are quite broad and provide a pleasant structure for the wine, especially one so young. It is drinking nicely now and will probably improve with another 2-3 years or more in bottle. Serve this with a red-wine-braised amb shoulder with white beans, rosemary and sage, all finished with a squeeze of lemon and a light dusting of grated Romano.

This wine has an inviting mix of berries on the nose with an earthy tomato just underneath it and tobacco adding to the richness and depth. The medium body and acidity with smooth buttery tannins lead to a delicious orange blossom and clove on the finish.

The 2008 Colpetrone Montefalco Sagrantino is a big wine for a big meal. Aromas and flavors are electric and stunning running from dark fruits to wintery spices and a slight metallic minerality. Dark cherries, plums, and blackberry lead to woody notes backed by clove and licorice; in the middle a fresh tobacco note bleeds down into nutmeg and boysenberry. Intense tannins provide the structure for the 14% ABV and the accompanying weight.

Powerful tomato aroma up front, followed by cooked strawberry and sweet, subtle notes of nutmeg and caramel. On the palate, this medium bodied Zweigelt shows good concentration and well balanced acid. Black cherry and sun-dried tomato flavors dominate, while undertones of clove carry through the mid palate and finish with a hint of warm orange blossom.

Echo de Lynch-Bates Pauillac 2014 Château Lynch-Bages
The 2014 vintage of Château Lynch-Bages’ second label, Echo, does not disappoint. Visually your eyes are drawn into the deep ruby – garnet color and immediately on the nose you experience a lovely bouquet of vanilla and black fruit that transports you to Bordeaux’s Left Bank. Plum and black cherry fruit flavors are complemented with buttery caramel, yeast and spicy tobacco notes on the finish. The high tannin, medium acid body wine is well balanced with a medium plus finish and the complexity expected of a fifth growth.

Lynch Bages Echo 2014
Pauillac
Strong fruit and leaf notes on the nose. Predominantly apple and plum dominate the fruit, and strong aromas of tea express the much-desired leaf notes. The wine is balanced in structure with crisp but restrained medium acidity and medium minus body. Strong, gripping tannins round out this elegant expression of Bordeaux.
