This month’s wine reviews are packed with value: a serious Albariño, a classic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, three Willamette Pinot Noirs on clearance, two excellent Argentine reds, and a special aged Navarra bottle.

We’re also marking the Wine School’s 25th year with the return of Summer Wine School, where you can earn your sommelier pin, complete wine instructor certification, or do both this August.

Along with Summer Wine School, we have added a bevy of new wine classes in August and in the Fall. As is often the case, people are already booking seats, so if you want to attend, please register sooner rather than later.

Oyster season is here, and I've got two whites built for it: a mineral-edged Albariño from Rías Baixas and a textbook Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, both well under retail in PA.

Then comes the fun part: the PLCB has Willamette Valley Pinots on clearance, including a $60 Yamhill-Carlton bottle going for $23.99. They won't be on every shelf, so consider it a treasure hunt.
