Attention Students of the Digital Transfer Initiative
Moving Sommelier Credetnials to NWS
Student Notice
Important Information from the Wine School of Philadelphia

,

We are nearly finished digitizing over 20 years of student records, now residing in the National Wine School's database. This has been an incredible yet challenging project, and I’m so glad you have been a part of it!

There is only one last step! If you applied to have your credentials transferred, they should now be visible in your NWS account. The last step is for you to review your account and ensure all your certifications are present. Please see the instructions below for this final review. You have until June 8th to verify your credentials.

Cheers,

Keith Wallace

Digital Transfer Initiative Update

The digitization project is nearing completion. Please review your account at the National Wine School and ensure all your certifications are listed. If you notice any discrepancies, refer to this FAQ: Digital Transfer Project FAQ.

In particular, review the transcript in your account page to verify your certifications: Sommelier Student Page.

Key Points to Check:

  1. Credit towards Advanced: If a course shows as “Credit towards Advanced,” it may be because the program is not part of the current NWS curriculum, or the grade was sufficient for credit but not for certification.
  2. Pending Approval: If a program is listed without certification, please include this in your application.
  3. Similar Program Titles: If a program title differs from what you took, it means you were issued credit and grandfathered into a similar program.

If you are missing a credential, fill out this form for review: Missing Credentials Form.

Advanced Sommelier and Master in Wine Certifications

Students with four advanced certifications and at least 720 class hours on their transcript qualify for the Advanced Sommelier Pin and Diploma. If you did not receive an email regarding this, list “Advanced Sommelier Pin and Diploma” on the “Course Review Request Form.”

Similarly, the Master in Wine certification requires eight advanced certifications. If your account reflects these certifications and your transcript shows at least 1,280 class hours, please add “Master in Wine” on the “Course Review Request Form.”
