Dear ,
This Friday, we’re hosting our semi-annual “Freaks & Geeks” members event, and if you’ve already signed up, you’re in for a treat! If you haven’t signed up yet, now’s the time—this is one of the most unique and joyful gatherings we host. Let me explain why.
This event is freeform in nature, hosted by yours truly, Keith Wallace. While there’s no rigid schedule, we recommend arriving around 7ish to settle in and catch the full vibe of the evening. What kind of vibe, you ask? Communal, joyful, and just a touch irreverent—exactly what you’d expect from a Wine School event.

The centerpiece of the night is our signature challenge: each member brings a wine that’s as freaky, geeky, or downright wild as they can find. It’s a lighthearted competition, but also a chance to learn, grow, and push your boundaries in the world of wine. The goal isn’t just to impress others—it’s to surprise yourself. You’ll find yourself immersed in one-on-one conversations, deep dives into what makes a wine truly unique, and a shared sense of discovery that’s hard to find elsewhere.
If you’ve already signed up, cheers to you! This is a cozy event, capped at around 14 people, making it an intimate evening of connection and camaraderie.
Need help finding your standout bottle? Here are some top recommendations for wine shops owned by Wine School of Philadelphia grads:
- Bloomsday Café (Queen Village): Zach Morris curates a wild and creative selection.
- 320 Market (Media & Swarthmore): Jack Cunicelli stocks a geek-worthy range of wines.
- WineWorks (Marlton): Filippo Cammarata’s shop is a treasure trove of funky finds.
- Jet Wine Bar (Graduate Hospital): Jill Weber’s collection has plenty of exotic and quirky gems.
Of course, there are non-WSoP-affiliated options as well. The Cork at Cook has a great wine selection, though it does have some historical baggage for us—it was once a rival wine/food school! Going there feels like rummaging through the remains of a bygone competitor. Too dramatic? Maybe.

Looking forward to sharing stories, laughs, and one-of-a-kind wines with you this Friday. Let’s make it a night to remember!
