Winemaker or Bust

Dear Keith,

My name is Jason Diaz. I am an undergraduate student finishing my fourth year at a conservatory in New Jersey. To put a long story short, earlier this year I discovered that my passion was not in music, but rather in wine, more particularly the art of winemaking. Upon realizing this, I jumped into action: I got a job as a vintner’s apprentice with my local winery, started reading books on anything wine related and started to attend tasting events in my area. You will have to excuse my bravado and naiveté , but I have big dreams to be a highly regarded winemaker someday, where I can create my own art and have people experience and enjoy such art. I deeply desire to learn more about wine and I have been recommend to check out the Wine School in Philadelphia to receive a more formal education as opposed to continuously reading books off the shelves of Barnes & Noble. As someone who is still a novice in this field and someone looking to become a winemaker, what kinds of courses should I take at the Wine School to kick-off my education that would get me on the right path? Any other advice or helpful feedback would be much appreciated. Please know that I am willing to do whatever it takes to make my dreams and ambitions come to fruition.

Thank you for your help!

Sincerely,
Jason

Hi,

Thank you for your interest in our programs.

The next program begins in January and is filling up quickly. Currently we only have spots available for the Core program, which combines the Foundation and Intermediate on the same day.

If you are interested in signing up, I would highly recommend visiting a class that meets for one evening, such as Wine 101 or Sommelier Secrets. There you will get a feel for the School and its programming.

Cheers
