Philadelphia Wine Storage

Answered Closed

We are moving from California to Philadelphia in June, and currently store our wine in a temperature controlled wine storage unit in the SF Bay Area. We have not been able to find a similar service in the greater Philadelphia area – do you know of anyone that does this? We have about 20 cases of very good red wine that we would like to store.

Welcome to Philly! You are right about the lack of wine storage facilities in Philly.

The reason there aren’t an wine storage centers in PA is due to the highly restrictive liquor laws here. You are in for a bit of culture shock.

Its actually illegal to own or store any wine unless you can prove you paid all PA taxes on the bottles.

Fortunately, they don’t mess with private citizens, but keep in mind it’s also unlawful to transport any wine into the state.
