Wine education

My name is Brad Shoop and I am currently a sales representative for Allied Beverage Group in NJ. I sell wine off and on premise and would like to further my education of wine at your school. A couple of my customers currently are in your program. My real question is that I want to increase my knowledge but am not planning on doing any type of service in a restaurant like a sommelier does. Should I still take all the courses to become a sommelier or do you have other courses with certifications that will fit my needs better for my current job. I just think gaining knowledge will increase my business and increase my customers business. I plan on attending some classes within 6 months. Where do I start and can you send me information on the classes that I will need?

Brad,

Good question! Our programs are NOT geared toward restaurant work. As you know, sommelier positions are a great lifestyle (if you like working nights and weekends) but not the end-all of jobs in the wine trade. Production and wholesale and consulting are much more attractive.

Our programs are designed for the wine trade. Sure some of our students are somms, but many more are winemaker s and importers and consultants.

Cheers
