Like so many in Pennsylvania, we have acquired a wine license . We already sell the craft beers, but know very little about wines. What classes would I start with to help with selecting the right inventory to sell, also we run a meat market in the same location, so we would like the knowledge to do pairings with the meats. We do exceptionally well with the beers, but we don’t want to start off making bad decisions with the wines. Can you suggest the courses that would help.

The best place to start is with the CORE program: https://www.vinology.com/core-wine-education-courses/ If you opt for the pro certification option, you will also recieve a level 3 somm certification from the NWS as well. There is an accelerated program coming up soon, which may be the right fit for you.

The program will help you with all the basics, and give you a very strong basis in wine knowledge. You will also have access to your sommelier-instructors, and that will be a great resource for you as well. We also offer consulting, but that can get expensive, and often isn’t necessary: the little known secret is that we offer an hour or two of consulting for free when our CORE and Advanced students are building out wine programs.
