Going to miss first class of Core Wine Course - what to do?

I signed up for core wine class that starts on March 10. I won’t be able to attend the first session on March 10 due to flight delay from overseas. Possible to make this up somehow? Apologies for this short notice, I tried my best to avoid it but couldn’t.

  • It’s been over one year we’ve been pushing back your registration. If you can’t attend another semester, then I think the best option is to refund your tuition.

  • Completely understand and highly appreciative of your rescheduling. If I recall correctly, I actually only made one prior request to push back my schedule from Fall 2018 to sometime in Spring 2019 (you told me that you would first put a spot holder for winter 2019 when spring schedule wasn’t yet available, then move to Spring once schedule is out).

For Spring 2019, I don’t anticipate further changes to my schedule, if you could accommodate my request one last time, I would love the opportunity to finish this course and make up this coming Sunday. Otherwise, I am also okay with tuition refund as I don’t have more time in Philadelphia beyond June, though this is not my preferred outcome.

Hi Zhong Yi,

Keith has asked me to confirm your registration for the Core semester, although he will not have time to meet with you on Sunday ahead of class. My apologies for the confusion.

Please let me know if I can answer any questions for you. I hope you enjoy the course!

Cheers,
Philip

  • Thanks Philip, appreciate the confirmation, glad to be back in the Core course. Is there anything I need to do to make up for missed first session? Do I just show up at 2pm this coming Sunday to make up?

  • The first class starts at 3 pm, and the doors open at 2:45. That’s when you should plan to arrive.

  • Great to hear, I’ll be there at 2:45pm tomorrow. Will missing the first session on March 10 affect my ability to earn National Certification, which I am highly motivated to earn? Could I make up just that first session on May 14 (with Enhanced Spring Semester)? Please let me know either way, see you tomorrow! Thanks again for addressing my concerns.

Zhong Yi,

I’ve been thinking. Missing the first class is less than ideal. In fact, it’s the one class you shouldn’t miss. You’ve been pushing back your registration since February 2018. Let’s push this back a semester, or to a point your schedule has settled down. I think this is the best option for you. I’ll send out a code so you can reschedule at your leisure.

  • Hi Keith, apologies for missing the first class. I don’t have more time here in Philadelphia as I will move away by June, so current semester is really the only time ever that I can take this course. Can we just stick to original plan and let me show up this coming Sunday at 2pm? I do not anticipate further changes to my schedule, and will be in Philadelphia on Sundays for the next 3 months. Really appreciate your understanding.

Zhong,

If you are going to miss the first day of class we’d like you to come in at 2pm the following week to go through registration and an overview of the program.

Let me know if that works for you. If it does, we will schedule you. You must let us know either way.

Cheers,

Keith

  • Thank you, that works for me, I will come next Sunday at 2pm for make up.
