It has come to our attention that our Credit Card company (First Data) was double billing a small handful of our students. The number is very small (a total of 7 people over the course of the last 6 months)
This happened when First Data sent back a “Failed” notice to our secure server, when in fact the credit card had been approved. And then the folks re-purchased the tickets.
I have contacted everyone effected, and we are working on getting refunds to all involved.
When I discovered the problem, I immediately fixed the technical failure, which involved changing an API from SOAP to REST. Huh? There was an issue in handling non-standard XML requests. (bet you didn’t know I wasn’t just a wine guy! I’m geek through and through)
That said, this is a small issue, but we wanted to make sure everyone knew how much we value our students and our commitment to openness in all things.
If you are one of the seven folks who were affected by this issue (or just someone curious about the issue) feel free to post here.
