Hello, I am interested in the Wine Foundation Course starting on May 14th, but I am a bit confused on exactly what certifications I’d receive if I add National Certification (and assuming I pass). On the overview page you note that “For sommelier certification, students must pass both the Level II and Level III exams” but that “Our Foundation is rated as a Level II wine education program”. So does that mean, upon completion of the Wine Foundation Course, I would receive Level 2 Certification, but NOT be an actual Certified Sommelier? Is it that Level 3 is the Professional Certification? I’m just trying to understand if Level 3 has some significance beyond just being 1 level higher than Level 2.

Thanks for your question.
The significance of Level III is that you will have completed the requirements for Foundation and Intermediate certification from the National Wine School. At that level, a pin is awarded.
If you’re interested in more information on how the certification process works, please check out http://www.somm.us or feel free to ask us any additional questions.
