Advanced Wine Class Project - New World AVA

I would like to report on the Sierra Foothills AVA. It’s a nondescript area with great history – one of the first areas in the country in the beginning stages of the wine industry resulting from the gold rush boom. Of note recently is the prominence of barbera, making a surge to surpass zinfandel production.

Please advise if this is appropriate for the class project.

Thanks – Dennis L.

The Sierra Foothills will work as a topic for the Advanced program. I would suggest NOT staying inside the AVA but pushing your research into LODI as well, which would give you a large enough region to work with.

Keep an eye on the sub-appellation of Fiddleton, too.
