Wine School is in Session!
Thanks to the hundreds and hundreds of our students who responded to our survey (436 to be exact). We have some great news ! We have an over 60% COVID vaccination rate for our students and a 100% vaccination rate for our teaching staff! We are confident of these numbers, as dozens of student interviews corroborate them. This is twice the rate of vaccinations in the general population! For the past year, our safety protocols have kept everyone safe (zero transmissions), and this is another layer of safety. If you have your vaccine, then now's the time to come and join the fun! Also, we'll be announcing the winner of the tasting kit via Instagram in the coming week. Cheers! Keith

Core Sommelier Program
|
|
Only three spots remain in our Core Sommelier Program, starting April 11th. This will be the final semester until Fall 2021, which will include a tuition increase. Even with that increase, our pricing is still 1/2 of what NWS charges for the same program. This program comes in two flavors: in-person and online, so no excuses!

Level One Brewing Program
| |
If spending a few Saturdays brewing beer with a master brewer is more your speed, we have a sweet idea for you.
Our L1 Beer Brewing Program is starting up next week, on April 10th. This program will take you from a pot of hot water to a six-pack of great beer. This is a hands-on beer brewing program, so wear a pair of comfy shoes! One of our personal favorite programs.
Beer people are so cool!

NSFW! Keith (Director of the Wine School, FYI) has zero filters and pulls out the dirty laundry whenever there is an audience for the truth. Not the usual wine guy, to say the least. If you have questions about wine and want an honest answer from someone with impeccable credentials, this is the class for you!

Paolo Scavino Vino Rosso
Enrico Scavino and his two daughters, Enrica and Elisa, produce great Barolos. Their "Prapo" is legendary but comes with a hefty price tag.
Few people know they also make this non-vintage bottling. A blend of f Dolcetto, Barbera, Nebbiolo, and Merlot, it's as delicious as it is affordable.
It's being sold at a major discount in PA, so now's the time to pick up a bottle or two.
Rating: 91 Points (Keith Wallace) Pricing: $11.99 (PA Wine & Spirits Stores)

Domaine Lafage 2016 Bastide Miraflors Roussillon
If you are a fan of the dirty side of Syrah, then this is for you. L:afage is a brilliant winery in France's Roussillon district.
There is plenty of glycerin-rich dark berries, but it's the varietal character that makes this special: chocolate-dipped beef jerky with a sprinkle of lavender.
Rating: 90 Points (Keith Wallace) Pricing: $14.39 (PA Wine & Spirits Stores)

Schnaitmann 2016 Trollinger Wurttemberg
This German wine region is tucked between Switzerland and France's Alsace. I am a huge fan of the Trollinger grape, and this is a great example.
Lithe and fresh, this wine leads with crunchy red fruit and a quixotic perfumed character. This is a perfect summer red to serve with lighter fare or just geek out on something fun.
Rating: 92 Points (Keith Wallace) Pricing: $15.19 (PA Wine & Spirits Stores)

Morgan 2017 "Metallico" Chardonnay Monterey
Hate the name, love the wine. Metallico is Morgan's unoaked chardonnay, and it's worth your time. There are zero butter and spice flavors here. Sometimes subtraction makes for a positive.
Medium to full-bodied and high acid, this Chardonnay sport dense orchard fruit, chestnut honey, and lemon curd. Simply delicious. For pairings, try poached cod with a lemon-tarragon butter sauce.
Rating: 91 Points (Keith Wallace) Pricing: $15.99 (PA Wine & Spirits Stores)
