Wine Scholar Program
An event every week that begins at 7:30 pm on Monday, repeating until Mon, March 30, 2020
Wine Scholar Program™ and Master Somm (CMS) Prep Course
Classes are held Mondays, February 10th to March 30th, from 7:30 to 9:30pm
Every sommelier knows about Tuscany, Napa, and Bordeaux. To be considered a true aficionado of wine, a deeper level of knowledge is required. Have you studied the wines of Kakheti, Brda, and Franschhoek? Every Master Sommelier has, and so should you.
The Wine Scholar Program™ and Master Somm Prep Course will expose you to exotic and rare wines, the bottles every great sommelier must know. If you ever plan on becoming a Master Sommelier (CMS), these are the topics you are required to study. This program confers an Advanced Sommelier credential along with being a prep course for the Master Sommelier exam.
Students in this program learn about the far-flung wine regions. They will be introduced to wine styles that remain some of the best-kept secrets in the world. They will delve into remote viticultural outposts of Central and Southeastern Europe. They will explore the cradle of wine history in the Middle East and Northern Africa.
The world of wines is ever-expanding, moving both into the future and deep into the past. This course opens up the world of wine far, far from Napa Valley and Bordeaux. In the Wine Scholar Program, we cover the wine regions every Advanced Sommelier needs to know.
- Greece & Macedonia
- Austria & Germany
- Northern Africa & Canary Islands
- Turkey & Georgia
- Serbia & Slovenia
- Israel & Lebanon
Most importantly, the program focuses on the component training and deductive wine tasting critical to all wine education. Each class will include blind tasting and sensory training exercises. This training, –which began in the Foundation Wine Course– is greatly expanded with this program. This training is crucial to anyone seeking to advance their career in the wine trade, especially winemakers and sommeliers.
