We suggest taking a  Wine 101: Intro to Wine class along with at least one other class in this series. Our classes range from  how to read a wine label (Great Wine Made Simple),  great ways to buy and serve wine (Sommelier Secrets), discovering why you like certain types of wine (Learn Your Wine Style),  and how to “talk wine” like a pro (Wine Smarts).

The Foundation Course is your key to unlocking that world. With it, you just may be able to turn a mere hobby into a deeply passionate and creative calling. In a single semester, students will learn the techniques and knowledge to become extraordinary wine tasters. Core Wine Course

Earn a complete wine education in a single semester. The Core Wine Program combines our Foundation and Intermediate programs into a unified wine education experience. Plus, the Core Program student saves in tuition by taking both programs in the same semester. In the Foundation portion of the program, students will learn the techniques and master the knowledge needed to become extraordinary wine tasters. Graduates are able to identity major wine varietals in a blind tasting: a major feat for any wine professional. In the Intermediate section, students learn about the intricacies of the ever expanding world of wine. Intermediate Global Wine Course

From the Italian peninsula to the docks of Bordeaux, the Intermediate Certificate of Global Wine Studies is a breathtaking exploration into the world of wine. In a whirlwind of a semester, the secrets of the global wine society are unlocked. Students learn about the wine styles, varietals, and winemaking techniques of all the important wine producing countries. Upon completion of the program, graduates have a working knowledge of the types and styles of wine available throughout the world: our students become masters of the global vineyard. The Wine Trials

Can you tell the difference between cheap wine and expensive wine?

This class is inspired by the Fearless Critic’s book, the Wine Trials, which sparked debate over its claim that non-expert wine drinkers preferred cheap bottles to more expensive bottles in scientific blind tastings.

In this class, we will put the critics to the test. Can a great $10 bottles taste better than an expensive one? Are 90+ point wines better? Come to this class and find out for yourself. You may be very surprised at the result!

Barolo! A Sommeliers Guide to the Italian Piedmonte

In this class, we uncover some of the secrets of the wine trade, and it’s all about taste. Ever hear a master sommeliers or a winemaker talk about layers of flavor in wine? Do you want to learn how to taste them, too? In this class, we cover the fundamentals of what it means to taste wine like a professional.

While we can’t teach you to have an x-ray tongue in a single class, we can show you how to recognize complexity and layers in wine.

In this class, we will take you through a series of tastings to help develop your palate. We will show you how wine is made and how it affects flavors and scents in a wine. When we’re finished, you will have learned some of the same material we present in our academic programs, and are one step closer to having serious wine skills.

Eight Wines to Try Before You Die

What are your desert island wines? What are the eight bottles that you could drink every day and night for the rest of your life? What wines would make living on that cursed desert island feel like a luxurious vacation? Ponder that for awhile. We did. We came up with a list — actually a bunch of lists — then threw them out and simply wandered through our cellar deep in thought.

In the end, it took about a week to make our selections. Each of us picked our most beloved wines from the thousands of great wines out there. In this class, we share them with you. This is not a classic session about terroir or history or culture: this is a class about the ultimate in flavor. Uncompromising lust-inducing brain-melting flavor. Chilean Wine Academy
