In a single semester, students will learn the techniques and knowledge to become extraordinary wine tasters. Graduates are able to identity major wine varietals in a blind tasting: a skill many seasoned sommeliers cannot accomplish.

After accelerated program, you will taste wine with a higher proficiency than most sommeliers. The final exam of this program is a series of blind tastings along with a multiple choice exam. It is expected that our graduates will be able to identify the varietal, style, and region of every wine presented in the blind tasting. We currently have a 91% pass rate. At-home study prior to both the written exam and blind tasting is highly recommended.

Earn a complete wine education in a weeklong accelerated program. The Core Wine Program combines our Foundation and Intermediate programs into a unified wine education experience. Plus, the Core Program student saves in tuition by taking both programs in the same semester.
In the Foundation portion of the program, students will learn the techniques and master the knowledge needed to become extraordinary wine tasters. Graduates are able to identity major wine varietals in a blind tasting: a major feat for any wine professional.
In the Intermediate section, students learn about the intricacies of the ever expanding world of wine. Included in the program is the chance to master the wine styles, climates and varietals of all the major wine producing countries.

From the Italian peninsula to the docks of Bordeaux, the Accelerated Intermediate Wine Course is a breathtaking exploration into the world of wine. In a whirlwind of a semester, the secrets of the global wine society are unlocked. Students learn about the wine styles, varietals, and winemaking techniques of all the important wine producing countries.
Upon completion of the program, graduates have a working knowledge of the types and styles of wine available throughout the world: our students become masters of the global vineyard. About California Wine
The Advanced Program on California Wine is the most comprehensive course on the Cali wine trade available on the East Coast. This full semester program is offered by the Wine School of Philadelphia with optional professional certification via the National Wine School in Los Angeles.
In this program, you will gain insight into California winemaking, history, and geography of the myriad essential wine-growing regions. This will include the rightfully famous wine regions of Napa and Sonoma, but also many of the smaller important boutique locations like Happy Canyon of Santa Barbara and the Templeton Gap District
The wine program will also include the hidden history of the California wine pioneers. Unconstrained by tradition or viticultural regulation, California winemakers have changed the world of wine over the past three decades.
The program also follows the young, innovative winemakers who are once again rewriting the rules of the wine trade; From the hunt for the perfect California cru, to the revolt against the overly-technical wine styles of the recent past. This class revolves around the fascinating stories, philosophies, and wine of California’s top producers.

The Advanced California Wine Program is comprised of 16 hours of class study in a single week. This accelerated program offers and equal amount of class time as the regular Advanced Wine Courses. Starting in Philadelphia we head to Belgium, to the United Kingdom, to Germany and then onwards to the furthest reaches of this awesome beer-drenched world.

At it’s core, this is a beer style class. This is the sort of programming that is required for aspiring brewer and beer sommelier. However, this class was built with the beer lover in mind, not the professional.

In Search of Delicious Exotic Wines
In this class, the theme is: the more obscure and rare the better! We have traveled –figuratively and literally– across the globe to find some of the coolest wines you have never heard of. You will learn about –and taste– wines from obscure places and also exotic varieties. But that isn’t the most important element. It’s not enough that these are exotic wines. They also have to be damn good, too.
If you are the type of person who wants to discover great new things, then this is a class for you. If you are happy just drinking buttery Chardonnay, not so much. Some of these wines will be from exotic places, some will be made with exotic grapes, and some combine both (and those are our favorites). No matter how much you think you know, this class will open your mind to how big and awesome the wine world really is.
This class will also give you great insight into the mind of a cellar master & sommelier. You’ll learn about wines and wine regions years before they become famous. As a case in point, the Wine School’s very first Exotica class was held in 2002. One of the first wines of that night was an exotic grape from a hitherto-unknown wine region: Malbec from Argentina. Keith Wallace, the director of the Wine School is a former ambassador to Champagne (Center for Wine Origins and the Champagne Bureau, USA). Over the years, there have been a number of articles and shows that have featured his love of bubbles. The Daily News featured Keith in an article on Champagne.
